Ferry Farm Waterline Replacement

Legacy Engineering was hired 
to provide A/E services for Phase VI of the Ferry Farm Waterline Replacement Project. This project will replace over 3,600 linear feet of failing waterlines which were originally installed in the 1960s. Services provided include field survey and investigative research to develop an existing conditions base map. The base map was used to design the waterline replacement documents for bid and construction.

342 Pressure Zone Transmission Line

Stafford County, VA

Legacy provided a VDOT certified inspector for this project and worked closely with Stafford County.  During construction of utilities, wet soils were constantly an issue and soils could not be compacted properly.  Legacy and the client sought out Stafford County Dept of Utilities to discuss options in order to construct the project in accordance with VDOT requirements, while maintaining the schedule.  Legacy performed related laboratory tests in our certified laboratory

Courthouse Area Water Storage Tank

Stafford County, VA

Legacy provided testing and inspection services for Stafford County for this new water storage tank.  Inspection services needed to be provided in accordance with both Stafford County and plans and specifications.
Legacy performed soil, concrete and steel inspections.   Legacy coordinated our inspection with Stafford County and the contractor, providing timely inspection reports that aided the contractor to maintain schedule.

Amos Lane Storm Sewer Replacement

Spotsylvania County, VA

Principals at Legacy are responsible for providing geotechnical and special inspection professional engineering services including geotechnical site and subsurface reconnaissance, exploration and investigation, geophysical investigations, geotechnical instrumentation, laboratory testing services, materials testing and geotechnical analysis, design, or review work in both soil and rock terrain. Work also includes report preparation or review, review of geotechnical construction plans, and specialty inspections including concrete and steel placements, as well as pavement and foundation design, road subgrade stabilization recommendations, utility trench excavation, dewatering and backfill requirements, and any other related geotechnical services deemed necessary by the County for the design and construction phases of specific projects. Observe and test backfill over utilities per Spotsylvania County and VDOT requirements.

PPEA Water and Rehabilitation Project

Fredericksburg, VA

A study of the existing sanitary sewer trunk line running along Kenmore Avenue in the City of Fredericksburg. Responsible for the study and design-build phase and reviewing the video of existing sewer line to plan the most efficient method to solve the City’s issue of infiltration into the sewer system. The method included inversion lining, or cured-in-place lining with HDPE, or complete realignment and replacement of sewer pipes and manholes. Responsible for coordination with the City’s inspectors and contractors during construction.

Butler Road Force Main Replacement

Stafford County, VA

Butler Road is a two-lane portion of U.S. Route 218 in Stafford County, Virginia that begins at the intersection of two major primary roadways: US Route 1 and US Route 17 Business. Principals at Legacy Engineering were hired to complete construction of a portion of the force main that runs along Butler Road. This project included the replacement of approximately 250 linear feet of existing sewage force main with High-Density Polyethylene Pipe (HDPE) pipe.

Falls Run Sewer Interceptor and Odor Control

Stafford County, VA

Construction of roughly 13,000 linear feet of large diameter sewer interceptor including three major road crossings and eight major stream crossings; managed final construction of a new, state-of-the-art odor control until; managed project through unforeseen construction issues with crossing of Interstate 95 and developed alternate crossing concepts; coordination with citizens; payment application, schedule review and approval; change order review, negotiation and approval; in-house coordination of minor construction activities saving County funds.

Enon Road Elevated Water Tank

Stafford County, VA

Our scope of service for this project will include the observation and construction of SWM facility, observation of subgrades, observation, and testing of structural fill for the tank foundation and related concrete pads, observation of pile installation, reinforcing steel inspections, observation of foundation subgrades, structural steel and welding inspections. and testing of concrete for the footings and concrete pads, and associated laboratory testing.  DEA will also provide geotechnical consulting as needed prior to or during construction.

Truslow Rd Sewer Neighborhood Extension Project

Stafford County, VA

Sewer line extension project in Stafford County to bring several existing homes on failing septic systems onto a gravity sewer line. Coordinated initial survey work for the proposed alignment including a Phase 1A archeological assessment. Worked with the County Engineer to ensure the alignment satisfied County needs as well as those of the existing homeowners.

Water System Improvements

Louisa County, VA

Principals at Legacy Engineering served as the Project Manager for The Town of Louisa’s water distribution system improvement project.  Services included: Generation of PER encompassing Cost Estimates, O&M calculations, and EDU determination, Submission of Environmental Clearances, Coordination between Town, and USDA to meet grant requirements, Submission, and comment responses with VDH and USDA State Engineers, Attending public meetings with Council/Committee.
